ABOUT US
Dreamworld Cakes is an independent, family run business located in the heart of Ouseburn, Newcastle. After training and working for years in the pastry industry we met in London whilst employed at the prestigious Nadell Patisserie, supplying high profile events such as the Buckingham Palace Garden Parties, the Chelsea Flower Shows and Royal Ascot just to mention a few. In 2007 we decided to move to Newcastle, closer to Richard's family, and established Dreamworld Cakes, but making only wedding cakes at that stage.
Whilst Richard became the head pastry chef of Close House I was concentrating on the wedding cakes and built my reputation in the industry, winning The Best Wedding Cake designer of The North East at the National Industry Awards twice in a row.
We are highly recommended by prestigious venues like Jesmond Dene House, Healey Barn, Matfen Hall, Eshott Hall and The Baltic.
In 2017 we spotted a gap on the market for beautiful and delicious continental patisserie items in Newcastle and established the Patisserie side of Dreamworld Cakes. Lots of our customers say they feel like they are on holiday in Paris when they visit our shop.
We offer sit in or take away for our customers, Afternoon Tea and light breakfast/lunch. Our patisserie items, (chocolates, macarons and biscuits to name a few) are made by us in house, using local ingredients wherever we can.
Our love of and passion for this beautiful industry led us to apply to the Great British Bake Off-The Professionals in 2019 and we were successful in being selected for the television series. We made it to the final 6 and felt very proud to represent the North East and small businesses around the country. It's still a lovely topic to talk about when customers ask about it.
